Personal Presentation

My main field of scientific activity is Operational Research/Management Science. More specifically, I am interested in Problem Analysis and Structuring Methods, Decision and Optimisation and Combinatorial Optimisation.

I authored many articles in international journals and research publications; I coordinated and participated in diverse investigations and applied projects, several developed in close cooperation with industrial and service companies; I supervised numerous PhD and MSc research theses.

President of APDIO (past) - the Portuguese Operational Research Society.

Electrical Engineering Degree (5 years) from FEUP.

PhD in Operational Research from the Technical University of Denmark.

I am a Professor at FEUP (DEGI) and a Research Coordinator at INESC TEC (CESE).
