This summer school is part of the EUGLOH university alliance, and in 2023 and 2024 there was a similar event in Hamburg and then in Porto, focused on 2nd cycle students.
“Imagine a new type of internet where you can meet your friends, study, work or even walk among performers at the opera or sing along with your favourite artist, all in an immersive, virtual world. Virtual worlds are becoming more and more sophisticated with better and clearer images and more life-like avatars. By 2030, many people will be using them daily.”
European Commission’s strategy on Web 4.0 and virtual worlds[1]
Research into immersive media, including extended reality (XR), virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR), is critical to increasing the human ability to operate effectively in complex scenarios. This course focuses on merging the real and virtual worlds to deepen research in diverse sectors such as education, health and engineering.
Participants will tackle complex problems in multidisciplinary teams to develop research projects.
