Artificial Intelligence (AI) has shown a great potential for social transformation and shaping the way we perceive our world and interact among us and with machines. With an impact on sectors as diverse as healthcare, industry, finance, mobility, and communication, AI has applications in a wide range of business operations, including decision support, predictive maintenance, marketing, content creation, logistics efficiency, and support to public policy making.
Our Master’s degree addresses the latest developments in the field of AI, offering a comprehensive range of courses (curricular units). It also recognizes the ethical and societal implications of AI’s progress, exploring issues such as privacy, transparency, and accountability.

Objectives
The Master in Artificial Intelligence is proposed to promote advanced specialization in AI and meet the growing demand for professionals and experts in this strategic and rapidly growing field. Future graduates will be key players on sectors as diverse as healthcare, industry, finance, mobility and communication. They will be able to apply AI to all application domains in their production and decision processes. One important objective is also to promote responsible AI taking into account ethical and social implications of using AI as well as issues related to privacy, transparency and responsibility. MIA contributes to Portugal's Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), in particular to help achieve the goals of Digital Transformation, Smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, including economic cohesion, employment, productivity, competitiveness, research, development and innovation.
Employment Prospects
M.IA graduates are expected to develop a comprehensive blend of AI skills and a wide range of soft and generic skills thereby enabling them to excel in roles where AI plays and is expected to play a central role.
