The TME (Technology Management Enterprise Program) is an Executive Master Program offered under the MIT Portugal Program scope.
Candidates to the Technology Management & Enterprise Executive Masters must hold a Bologna 2nd cycle degree, a master's degree or a five-year degree (Licenciatura) with professional experience.
Objectives
TME is a 2 semesters course with 10 mandatory courses and a research project.TME students are required to take a total of 90 ECTS: 60 ECTS from the curricular component and 30 ECTS from the Research Project.
The Research Project has to be an original work conducted over the course of the TME program or derived from company-related work. Either way, the topic and content of the research project should be within the TME theme and consistent with the scope of the EDAM (Engineering Design and Advanced Manufacturing) MIT Portugal focus area.
Fields of Specialization
All courses are integrated in a backbone structure with complemented satellite courses. The backbone structure comprises:
- Product Design: Methods for generating ideas and front-end product development. Market research and technology evaluation. Students will present ideas for new products and establish product feasibility.
- Product Development: Taking the concept from Product Design and developing it up to manufacturing. Mechanical design, materials selection, cost modeling and environmental impact are considered. A physical working prototype is required, showing the majority of features of the product.
- Manufacturing Management: Design, planning and improvement of manufacturing based organizations, including their extended supply chain. Understanding of principles and concepts of Lean Manufacturing and Supply Chain management, and acquisition of competences and skills in the tools and techniques that support the design and the continuous improvement of lean and agile manufacturing systems.
- Engineering Systems: Understanding of product design and development and integration between technology, management and society. It provides ways of thinking about products and product development in a broader and deeper context, appreciating the importance of multiple perspectives in understanding systems.
Employment Prospects
TME graduates will be capable of leading multidisciplinary teams in product development and manufacturing operations to address multiple challenges in engineering design and manufacturing, including: innovative product development, advanced processing / fabrication solutions, and optimization of production processes under an integrated perspective of the product cycle. Graduates get a formal Advanced Studies Certificate upon completion.
