Laboratory of Separation and Reaction Engineering - Laboratory of Catalysis and Materials

Acronym: LSRE-LCM Laboratory of Separation and Reaction Engineering - Laboratory of Catalysis and Materials - Abre numa nova janela
Person in Charge: Madalena Dias
Mission:

The Mission of LSRE-LCM is to promote the advance of scientific and technological know-how in the Chemical Engineering areas of Separation and Reaction Processes, Product Engineering, Catalysis and Carbon Materials, Thermodynamics and Environmental Engineering.

Description:

LSRE-LCM is a partnership between LSRE - Laboratory of Separation and Reaction Engineering and LCM - Laboratory of Catalysis and Materials. This partnership obtained the status of Associate Laboratory in December 2004. The Associate Laboratory status was renewed in January 2011 for a period of 10 years.

The main location of LSRE-LCM is the Department of Chemical Engineering at FEUP - Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, which acts as the Managing Institution. LSRE-LCM also includes two external poles.

  • The IPB Pole at Instituto Politécnico de Bragança started in 1997 with a group of young faculty members of IPB, former PhD graduates from LSRE and LCM that found in LSRE-LCM and FEUP the scientific support (such as the possibility of supervising PhD theses) for their research activities.
  • The IPL Pole at Instituto Politécnico de Leiria was started in 2011 with a collaboration protocol between LSRE-LCM and a group of faculty members of IPL, with the objective of strengthening the scientific support of the IPL members and to contribute to the development of the centre region of Portugal.

SHAKING THE PRESENT. SHAPING THE FUTURE.

The LSRE-LCM moto guides our researchers in pursuing today’s scientific challenges and innovations that will impact tomorrow’s industrial and economic sustainable development.

A wide range of know-how levels is covered by LSRE-LCM activities, from fundamental research to the development of industrial products and processes, including contributions from materials, process and product engineering.

Training of highly skilled researchers and technicians through post-graduate and post-doctoral programmes is a major focus of LSRE-LCM activities.

RESEARCH GROUPS

LSRE-LCM aims to contribute towards the sustainable development of the country, namely of the Northern region, according to the Norte 2020 guidelines. To achieve this objective in a coherently organized fashion, research at LSRE-LCM is organized in 4 Research Groups in different strategic areas:

  1. CYCLIC ADSORPTION/REACTION PROCESSES
  2. PRODUCT ENGINEERING
  3. THERMODYNAMICS & ENVIRONMENT
  4. CATALYSIS AND CARBON MATERIALS
