Objectives

To promote the integration, aqquisition and development of personal knowledge, capacities and atitudes, by an individual project work programme, based on a paticulaar theme of the study programme.

May be developed in acdemia or in industry.

Will result in the preparation, presentation of a dissertation report.

Learning outcomes and competences

The student will be able to:


  • carry out a research and/or development work programme, using experimental, production or simulation resources, in an specific knowledge area;

  • demonstrate knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United
    United Nations, integrating the principles of sustainability into engineering practices. This includes being
    able to identify the contribution of their work to the environmental, social and economic aspects,
    as well as defining performance indicators that establish metrics for measuring the impact of
    projects, with a view to a more sustainable and inclusive future;

  • integrate previous with newly self-aqquired  knowledge and capacities;

  • take action and decide;

  • think critically and creativelly;

  • engage in new situations;

  • gather pertinent information;

  • gather or develop solution methodologies and instruments;

  • sinthesyze and draw conclusions;

  • write a pertinent dissertation report;

  • present, discuss and defend his results.

Working method

Presencial

Pre-requirements (prior knowledge) and co-requirements (common knowledge)

Students should perform this u.c. on an exclusive basis. Students must have the credits necessary to be enrolled in the curricular unit.

Program

The student will carry out an work program, put forward by his supervisors, and executed in academia or under a partnership protocol.

Involves the following tasks:


  • Detailed analysis of the problem;

  • Bibliographic search;

  • Theoretical study or design of a solution for a problem;

  • Simulation or project solution development; 

  • Preparation of report;

  • Final public presentation to a jury.
