The teaching methodology will include the oral presentation of concepts in a theoretical expositive class, together with the projection of slides where the discussion with students of the aspects related to the theoretical components will be promoted. Practical case studies will be evaluated and the students might perform visits to solid waste treatment/management facilities.
The teaching-learning methodology will be focused on the autonomous and tutored student work as well as the group work, monitored by individual meetings.
The teaching methodology will also focus on considering a dynamic study perspective, the acquisition of practical concepts integrated in theoretical concepts acquired, and the promotion of the discussion regarding the concepts within the groups.
A wiki (moodle platform) will be constructed in the beginning of the year, covering examples of different technologies and their descriptions, made by the students. The participation of the students is promoted and considered for evaluation.Designation | Weight (%) |

According to General Evaluation Rules of FEUP.
The case study as well as moodle activity are an obligatory component.
Final Grade (FG) of this course unit is calculated based on the following formula:
FG= 0.6 T + 0.3CS + 0.1 MA where,
T- Grade of the theoretical exam
CS - Case study, including report and oral presentation
MA -Moodle activity
Note: Students have to reach a minimum grade of 8 out of 20 in the theoretical exam.
Students will develop, in group, 1 written assignment and an oral presentation related to municipal waste management systems.
Final Exam
Final Exam, keeping the grade of the case study.
