Objectives

Integration of multidisciplinary expertise in creating new products / services with the   objective of learning a set of strategies and tools for systematic development of new products/services, in an environment of teamwork

Learning outcomes and competences

At the end of the course the student will acquire the following competences and be able to :


  • Organize and define the process for developing product / service within the company;
  • Define a structured plan of development of product or service;
  • Know and be able to use a set of methods and tools for a systematic practice of introducing new products and services to meet the needs of customers and other stakeholders;
  • Align the development of new products and services with the company's strategy;
  • Understand product/service development as a system through the adoption of holystic approaches
  • Understand importance of customer customer experience and customer involvement in new product development and service development
  • Apply and synthetize knowledge through a team project, from the identification of a business opportunity to the generation of a concept and prototype.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The UC uses a PBL-project based learning approach, based on the development of a project to create a new product or service corresponding to a business opportunity identified by the team, using the models and tools  taught in the course.

Eligibility for exams

Calculation formula of final grade

The final mark  is based on the following criteria:


  • 20% individual participation in class
  • 30% intermediate presentations and discussions of new product and service development
  • 50% final written report of new product and service development project

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

Working students must complete the individual and group assigments and must participate in assessment classes.
