Objectives

At the end of lective component of the UC, the student should be able to:

    • To know and distinguish the concept of Occupational safety;
    • To Know Occupational safety and health regulations framework. Analysis of the different types of documents associated with OSH regulations;
    • To identify the most common risks of work accidents;
    • Identify some special risks;
    • Formulate an economic perspective of the accidents;
    • Point solutions for different risk situations.

 

Learning outcomes and competences

Once completed the UC, the student will be able to meet the fundamental needs of a company in the field of Occupational Safety.

  • Occupational Safety fundamentals;


  • Legal framework for occupational accidents;

  • Occupational accidents statistics, statistical control of accidents;

  • Behaviour Based Safety (BBS);

  • Prevention through Design;

  • Prevention and Fire Safety;

  • Electrical Hazards;


  • Machine protection; Main types of equipment; Risk typification; Electrical protection and mechanical protection; applicable law;


  • Occupational safety and health regulations framework. Analysis of the different types of documents associated with OSH regulations;

  • Safety signs. Legal framework. Analysis of the applicable legislation.
    Civil construction: temporary or mobile construction sites. Analysis of the applicable legislation;

  • Minimum workplace health and safety requirements. Analysis of the applicable legislation;

  • Minimum health and safety requirements for manual handling of loads. Analysis of the applicable legislation;

  • General occupational safety and hygiene regulations. Analysis of the applicable legislation.
