Objectives
Introduction of the concept of road security and development of students' skills to identify risk factors in general and in specific cases, and improve its ability to define and propose measures and solutions that reduce the risk of road accidents. Identify key risk factors and study, analyze and propose solutions. Identify situations and perform risk analysis on the ground. Analyze prevention measures, including education and training for road safety and defensive driving.
Learning outcomes and competences
It is expected that in this discipline students acquire a greater sensitivity for the Road accident prevention. This course will warn some successful measures to prevent accidents as well as instruct students for detecting situations potentiate the risk of accidents.

- Introduction to road accidents, different factors;
- Introduction to legislation and Responsibilities (Criminal, Administrative, Civil and Deontological);
- Driver health and safety;
- Safety in maneuvering of agricultural tractors;
- Transport of Dangerous Goods.
- Introduction to Biomechanics and Traumatology, the enormous importance of speed and deceleration on the consequences of the accidents;
-Motor vehicles. Active and passive security systems.
-Concepts and security indicators; Methodologies and tools for security analysis and identification of risk factors.
-Analysis of accident and conflict data - application to practical example.
-The human factor as an accident risk factor - analysis methodologies and study examples in a driving simulator

Eligibility for exams
Terms of frequency: Minimum attendance requirement of 75% to students holding a OHS Certificate (CAP – SHT) and minimum attendance of 90% to students without a OHS Certificate (CAP – SHT).
Calculation formula of final grade
Group work, presentation and discussion: 50%
The work group may be:
a) field work, analysis of cases, or signaling problems
b) study of subjects about Road Safety
c) study and analysis of scientific articles or textbooks, books or book chapters.
Exam: 50%

Observations
Considering the new context, the final mark is based only on the evaluation of an individual work. This work is classified based on the report (70%) and based on the presentation and discussion (30%).
The presentation will be online (Zoom platform).
An exam is foreseen during the appeal season.
