Objectives

To comprehend and acquire fundamental concepts in Economics of Management and Organizations (namely in the Mining Sector).

To identify the main characteristics and contingencies related to corporate management;

To define and design the main organizational models related to the Mining activity, presenting Management Systems standard and guidelines framework;

To identify previous legal & technical requirements related to establishing economic activities.

Learning outcomes and competences

The issues are addressed in an integrated perspective between the technical aspects and legal constraints in order to construct solutions that meet the real needs.


Individual assignment in research for multidisciplinary contents, allowing for liability evidence in decision making whereas managing multicriteria information.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Type of evaluation: Distributed evaluation without final exam

Due to the specific training approach, evaluation comprises only an individual report and its presentation.

Developing an individual theoretical/practical report: based upon a free selection of an economic activity (mining) licensing legal framework, develop a method to identify, classify and use of legal information in decision making procedures.

The written report ads to a compulsory oral presentation in the classroom and a discussion of the report main results.

Terms of frequency: According to the rules of the FEUP (75% attendance in classes)

Formula Evaluation:

WA: Written assignment (theoretical component) - 50% weight

PD: Presentation and discussion (practical component) - 50% weight
