Study of technologies and methodologies relevant to the design of specific telecommunications systems, including optical, wireless access systems, satellite systems, radar systems and their applications. Presentation of key terms, concepts, principles and architectural models with a view to the design and implementation of these systems.
The skills to be acquired by students are:
- Knowledge in the design of RF and optical telecommunication systems .
- Ability to analyse, simulate, and design of these systems.
Learning outcomes are the acquisition of skills for the project, as well as knowledge of relevant current telecommunications systems.
Applications Erbium doped fiber amplifiers(EDFA). Design of WDM systems with EDFAs. Limiting factors in the design of optical systems: dispersion and nonlinear effects. Analysis of the pulse propagation in fiber and the interaction between the dispersion and nonlinear effects. Management dispersion in optical systems. Introduction to multiaccess optical networks: devices and topologies. Transport of radio and microwave frequency signals over optical fibe . Passive optical network access network: principle of operation, components, architectures and system design. Hertzian beam systems: basic concepts, modulation, power balance, system noise, frequency plan, terminal stations and repeaters; system design. Satellite Communications Systems: basic concepts, orbiting satellites, satellite links, access to satellites, the satellite segment, ground segment, satellite series; system design. Radar Systems: basic concepts and principles of operation, pulse radars (search radars, tracking radars, radar indicators movement, signaling radar), radar continuous-wave (CW Doppler radar, radar FM-CW); system design.
