Objectives

The objectives of this course are to provide students with knowledge and skills on processes, techniques and requirements engineering models, including analysis tools in the context of organizational information systems analysis. It is intended that given a situation of potential introduction or development of an information system in an organization, the student is able to participate in and / or conduct an analysis process that leads to the definition of technical and organizational requirements of this system.

Learning outcomes and competences

Being approved at the UC, the students will be able to:

1. explain and discuss the importance of organizational analysis in the implementation and management of IS in the organization;
2. select and use modelling techniques for the representation and analysis of the various organizational perspectives involved in the specification and management of IS in the organizations;
3. explain and discuss the importance of the requirements engineering process and the roles of their actors in the success of a software system;
4. describe, select and apply techniques for requirements elicitation according to the context of the problem to solve;
5. describe, select and apply models and techniques for requirements representation;
6. describe, select and apply methods for requirements analysis and negotiation;
7. structure and write a a requirements document;
8. 8. describe, select and apply methods for requirements validation;
9. discuss the problems and needs of requirements management and the existent techniques and technologies for that;

Teaching methods and learning activities

The lectures focus on the discussion of the topics included in the content of the UC. For this, students will the reading list in the plan of UC. The discussion of issues is motivated by case studies, illustrative examples, examples of technologies, etc..

During the semester students will perform 3 or 4 small group projects which apply the knowledge acquired in concrete situations. Content created by these groups are managed by a content management system (wiki) making this practice part of learning.
