Objectives
SPECIFIC AIMS
This course unit aims to endow students with knowledge in the field of Industrial Technological Processes. This course unit comprises the manufacturing process of casting and the fundamental characteristics of rapid prototyping processes. It also comprises stock removal processes and corresponding tools.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of the semester, students should be capable of:
1. understanding the necessary concepts to perform a theoretical analysis of these processes
2. identifying equipments and terminology
3. identifying the name and the fundamental characteristics of casting and process and rapid prototyping and corresponding tools;
4. identifying the name and the fundamental characteristics of stock removal processes and corresponding tools
5. relating the different methods of manufacturing to reach machining sequences.

Eligibility for exams
According to Article 4 of General Evaluation Rules of FEUP
Calculation formula of final grade
2 tests and reports of practical assignments
1one test will cover the themes of casting and rapid prototyping, while the other will cover the themes related to stock removal machining
Students have to reach a minimum mark of 7 out of 20 in each of the assessment components.
FM=A*0.75+B*0.25
FM- Final Mark
A- Average mark of the two tests (1st and 2nd part)
B- Average mark of study visits reports and practical assignments
Examinations or Special Assignments
Recurso exam (resit): An exam which will cover all themes and activities of the course unit.
Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)
It will take place an exam which will cover all themes and activities of the course unit.
Classification improvement
It will take place an exam which will cover all themes and activities of the course unit.
