Objectives
Introduce the relations between structure and properties needed for engineering design for the various classes of materials (metals, ceramic, polymers, composites).
Special emphasis is given to the assessment of economical, environmental and social issues related to the design and use of materials in engineering.
The students will develop further competences on bibliography search, technical English (as most supporting information is in English) and will be given some knowledge about extant software dealing with prediction of physical properties. Competences for written and oral communication will be trained through the resolution and discussion of more genral problems,
