Objectives

When faced with the problem of automating an information process, students shall be able to define a data model, according to the general principles of database systems; understand the basic notions of the relational model and be able to query a database using SQL; and know how to define a global data storage strategy for the organization.

Program

An organization’s information system. Modelling. Entity-relationship modelling. Relational databases: relational model, relational algebra, data languages (SQL). Exploring a Database Management System: security and integrity. Databases and decision support systems. Introduction to data warehouses and dimensional modelling.
