Abstract (EN):
To reflect on the Philosophy of the city and its increasing relevance, while bearing in
mind its amplitude, I sought, within the scope of this chapter, to highlight a particularity
that I believe is fundamental for understanding this topic and philosophical subfield: the
spatial repositioning of philosophy, in particular political philosophy. To this end, I have
tried, first, to emphasise the trend in modern political philosophy of reducing politics to
the institutional and state level, which results in a dissociation between policy-making and
city-building. The second aim was to demonstrate – in an age of global urbanisation where,
for better or for worse, the city once again takes centre stage – that acknowledgement of the
spatial dimensions of power and resistance leads to the revaluation of the classic principle
of public philosophy.
