Pedro C. Neto holds a B.Sc. degree (Hons.) in software/informatics engineering from the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP), a M.Sc. degree (Hons.) in computer science from Aalto University, Finland, and a PhD degree from Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto (FEUP) . He is an AI Scientist at Unilabs where he develops cutting-edge AI solutions for Healthcare problems. His Ph.D. work, awarded with the 2024 EAB Max Snijder Award, on “Explainable Artificial Intelligence for Fair and Transparent Biometrics,” is directed towards the problems exhibited by current biometric systems, such as, race and gender biased in face recognition. He also conducted research for the CADPath.AI project, which aims to build a deep learning method for automated diagnosis of colorectal cancer from whole slide images. Pedro is also an invited assistant professor at University of Porto.
