Mónica Silva received her Chemistry diploma from Faculty of Science of the University of Porto, in 1996, with 14th values, and her PhD in Chemical Engineering - Materials Chemistry, from Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, in 2002, under supervision of Prof. Dr. José Luís Cabral da Conceição Figueiredo. After a three-year stay at Instituto Superior de Ciências da Saúde-Norte, CESPU, as Full Teacher of Biophysics and Physico-Chemistry, she took place as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra. Since April 2014, she hold a Postdoctoral position at LA LSRE-LCM, at Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto.
Her research interests are tetrapyrrolic macrocycles design and other heterocyclic ligands into porous materials, and their applications in photocatalysis and optical sensors. Recently, a new interest was added to her list, the synthesis and application of elastomers, using NETmix methodology.
She has published ca. 15 peer-reviewed papers in international journals, and done many more communications in international conferences. In complement, she supervised 2 master thesis and four diploma thesis, and gave seminars in the Chemistry's Master, at University of Coimbra.
