Apresentação Pessoal
Joao Rio is a civil engineer and a scientist with professional and academic experience in structures, geotechnics and cement based materials. He has a Ph.D. in acoustic testing of soil from University College London. Also in London, Joao worked at ARUP as a geotechnical engineer, having also worked in Portugal as a structural engineer at AFA and Newton.At present Joao works at LABEST, research unit at FEUP, testing cement based materials with ultrasounds and recycling stone residues and optimizing concrete mixes. He also collaborates in other projects related with BIM technology and web apps for engineering.
When possible, Joao searches for students to supervise in Ph.D thesis, master thesis, master thesis, research initiation works, or even plain tutoring of students along their university course. If you would like to discuss any of these subjects please do contact him.
