Apresentação Pessoal

Biography:

Pedro Ferreira is a Researcher at CONSTRUCT-ViBest of the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Porto, Portugal. Dr. Ferreira holds a Master (2010) and PhD (2018) degree in Civil Engineering – Structures, focused on the analysis of Cable and Tensile Membrane Structures, particularly on (1) form-finding and structural optimization methods, (2) constitutive modelling of membrane materials employed in architectural fabric systems (3) wind effects on membranes (4) fiber optic shape sensing systems using fiber Bragg gratings sensors for real-time monitoring of the shape of flexible structures. In 2016, Dr. Ferreira was appointed as the Head of R&D at Fibersail for application of the shape sensing technology to wind turbine blades. In the context of research and consultancy activities of the ViBest Lab, Pedro Ferreira has participated in the dynamic testing and monitoring of Civil Structures and in the organization of International Conferences, supervised MSc. students, authored an European patent and several papers in International Journals and Conferences. He is referee of several international journals. He is a member of the Portuguese Order of Engineers, and of the International Association for Shell and Spatial Structures (IASS).
