I was born in Aveiro in 1973, and graduated from Aveiro University in 1996 in Environmental Engineering. After, for a one year period, I worked in anaerobic digestion modelling on the wastewater research group at the Environmental and Planning Department in Aveiro University.
In September 1997 I started a Ph.D. in the LSRE on the topic: “Mixing Mechanisms in Reaction Injection Moulding – RIM. An LDA/PIV Experimental Study and CFD Simulation”, that I concluded in April 2003. After the Ph.D. I made a Post-Doc on Self Compacting Concrete Rheology, at LSRE in an industrial project with Civil Engineering Department in cooperation with the companies Mota-Engil, Maprel and Silka. During the 6 years period in LSRE I gained expertise in the field of experimental and computational fluid mechanics.
From September 2004 to August 2006 I taught wastewater related topics in Polytechnique Institute of Viana do Castelo, namely Wastewater Microbiology, Wastewater Treatment Techniques and Wastewater Treatment Plant Design.
Currently, since September 2006, I am Research Assistant at the LSRE where I am engaging new research on mixing applied to wastewater treatment processes and to mini/micro reactors. Further, I keep my original research activities of mixing studies applied to Reaction Injection Moulding, RIM, processes.
