From the academic year 2021/2022 onward, the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto extends its offer of 2nd cycle studies with nine additional masters, which result from the adaptation of integrated masters pursuant to Decree-Law No. 65/2018, of 16th August.
For information purposes only, we will distinguish the 2nd cycle studies between Stand-alone Masters and Continuity Masters (the ones resulting from the above-mentioned adaptation of Integrated Masters), since there are some differences in terms of applicants, deadlines for application, ranking criteria and documents required.
Therefore, depending on the master(s) (2nd cycle studies) you wish to apply for, you should carefully read the information below regarding Stand-alone Masters and/or Continuity Masters.Applicants for Stand-alone Masters
The following may apply for a cycle of studies leading to a Master's degree:
a) Holders of a Bachelor's degree (Licenciatura) or legal equivalent;
b) Holders of a foreign higher education degree awarded after a first cycle of studies structured in accordance with the Bologna Process by a State that implemented this process;
c) Holders of a foreign higher education degree that is recognized as meeting the objectives of a Bachelor's degree by the statutory competent scientific body.
d) Those with an academic, scientific or professional curriculum recognized as attesting to their ability to carry out the cycle of studies by the statutory competent scientific body.
Please see information for each cycle of studies.
Applicants for Continuity Masters
Applicants who comply with the prior training requirements set out for each Continuity Master shall be admitted to the competition (see information for each cycle of studies).
The following may apply for a Continuity Master at FEUP:
- applicants who have completed the first 3 years of a cycle of studies carried out in a country that did not implement the Bologna Process;
- applicants whose completion of a Bachelor's degree (Licenciatura) is dependent upon the bureaucratic termination of an international mobility process, whatever their home Higher Education Institution (HEI) might be;
- “final-year students” who have legitimate expectations to complete the Bachelor's degree (Licenciatura) by the end of the evaluation periods that take place in June/ July/ September, whatever their home HEI might be. These applicants lose their right to admission within the said competition if they do not meet the conditions to enrol within the set deadlines;
- applicants who, despite not falling under paragraphs a), b) or c), explicitly wish to request the Scientific Council of FEUP to attest to their ability to carry out the cycle of studies they are applying for. These applicants must previously submit the said request at the Academic Services of FEUP using this template.

Ranking Criteria for Stand-alone Masters
The ranking criteria are defined per cycle of studies (see information for each cycle of studies).
Some cycles of studies or application phases may have minimum requirements for admission, such as a ranking grade equal to, or higher than, a specific value out of 200.
Ranking grade: the result obtained by using the calculation formula provided for in the ranking criteria.
Notes for Stand-alone Masters:
