* Applications and Pre-applications for students who have done the Brazilian National Secondary Education Examination (ENEM) are available in submission of applications
1. Knowledge of the language in which the cycle of studies will be taught (Portuguese) assessed through the presentation of a supporting document.
2. The entrance examinations accepted are:
- National entrance examinations required for each cycle of studies;
- Entrance examinations considered to be homologous to the national examinations, in accordance with Article 20-A of Decree-Law No. 296-A/98, of 25th September, as amended by Decree-Law No. 90/2008, of 30th May, and with Resolution No. 1882/2016, of 16th December, amended by the Rectification Declaration No. 191/2017, of 28th March (legislation only available in Portuguese);
- Brazilian National Secondary Education Examination (ENEM) in the areas required for each cycle of studies.
Applicants who are applying with ENEM examinations:
The ENEM grades will be converted to a scale from 0 to 200 (Portuguese grading scale) according to the following formula:
Final grade = ENEM grade * 200/1000
After the conversion of the ENEM grades, only applicants with individual grades equal to or higher than 95 for each of the five fields of knowledge of the ENEM will be admitted.
Applicants who are applying with other examinations:
Must have obtained on the required entrance examinations (or equivalent national examination) grades equal to or higher than the legally established limits:
Cycle of Studies | Entrance examinations (2017/2018) |
Licenciatura in Engineering Sciences - Mining and Geo-Environmental Engineering | One of the following sets: 02 Biology and Geology 19 Mathematics A or 07 Physics and Chemistry 19 Mathematics A |
Master in Bioengineering | One of the following sets: 02 Biology and Geology 19 Mathematics A or 07 Physics and Chemistry 19 Mathematics A |
Master in Civil Engineering | 07 Physics and Chemistry 19 Mathematics A |
Master in Environmental Engineering | One of the following sets: 02 Biology and Geology 19 Mathematics A or 07 Physics and Chemistry 19 Mathematics A |
Master in Electrical and Computers Engineering | 07 Physics and Chemistry 19 Mathematics A |
Master in Engineering and Industrial Management | 07 Physics and Chemistry 19 Mathematics A |
Master in Informatics and Computing Engineering | One of the following sets: 07 Physics and Chemistry 19 Mathematics A or 19 Mathematics A 18 Portuguese |
Master in Mechanical Engineering | 07 Physics and Chemistry 19 Mathematics A |
Master in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering | 07 Physics and Chemistry 19 Mathematics A |
Master in Chemical Engineering | 07 Physics and Chemistry 19 Mathematics A |
Applicants who are applying with ENEM examinations:
Fields of knowledge of the ENEM | Weighting |
Human Sciences and their Technologies (CHT) | 5% |
Natural Sciences and their Technologies (CNT) | 40% |
Languages, Codes and their Technologies (LCT) | 5% |
Mathematics and its Technologies (MT) | 45% |
Mathematics and its Technologies (MT) | 5% |
Grade = (CHT*weighting + CNT*weighting + LCT*weighting + MT*weighting + R*weighting)/100
Conversion to a scale from 0 to 200 (Portuguese grading scale) according to the following formula:
Ranking grade = Grade*200/1000
Only applicants with a ranking grade equal to or higher than 120 points will be admitted.
Applicants who are applying with other examinations:
The application grade, on a scale from 0 to 200, is calculated by applying the following formula, the result of which is rounded to the tenth, with one-tenth being a value of not less than 0.05:
Grade: P1 x 0.5 + P2 x 0.5
where:
P1 and P2 = grades, on the entire scale from 0 to 200, of the final examinations corresponding to the required entrance examinations (50% each)
Tie-breaking criterion
In the event of a tie, the assessment of the letter of motivation and letter(s) of recommendation presented in the application process will be taken into consideration.
