Calculation of the Academic Path Grade (CPA):
A - Grade “equivalent” to the higher education access grade (on a scale from 0 to 200), taking into consideration the specific examinations currently required for the cycle of studies they are applying for;
C12 - Grade of the 10th/12th school year;
CE1 – Grade of the 1st entrance examination;
CE2 - Grade of the 2nd entrance examination.
Note: In the case of students who have been admitted to FEUP via Special Applications - International Students, ENEM examinations will also be accepted, and for grade A (on a scale from 0 to 200) the grade set in section “Applicants who are applying with ENEM examinations”, below, will be considered.
B - Average grade of the curricular units that are relevant to the cycle of studies the student is applying for (curricular units regarding which credits will be transferred);
Ni - Number of ECTS previously accumulated (number of ECTS that will be transferred to the student) in areas of the cycle of studies the student is applying for;
Ci - Grade of each curricular unit regarding which credits will be transferred;
TOT - Total number of ECTS credits of the cycle of studies the student is applying for.
Therefore, the university path has a weight proportional to the number of ECTS previously accumulated in areas of the cycle of studies the student is applying for (up to a maximum of 50%), with the remaining weight being attributed to the pre-university path.
Applicants who are applying with ENEM examinations:
In the case of applicants who have been admitted to FEUP via Special Applications - International Students and who are applying with ENEM examinations, in order to calculate portion A (Grade “equivalent” to the higher education access grade) the weighted average will be used in accordance with the following table and corresponding formula:
Fields of knowledge of the ENEM | Weighting |
Ciências Humanas e suas Tecnologias (CHT) | 5% |
Ciências da Natureza e suas tecnologias (CNT) | 40% |
Linguagens, Códigos e suas tecnologia (LCT) | 5% |
Matemática e suas tecnologias (MT) | 45% |
Redação (R) | 5% |
Grade = (CHT*weighting + CNT*weighting + LCT*weighting + MT*weighting + R*weighting)/100
Conversion to a scale from 0 to 200 (Portuguese grading scale) according to the following formula:
Grade A = Grade*200/1000
Tie-breaking criterion
In the event of a tie, priority will be given to applicants who have obtained the best grade on the entrance examinations (on a scale from 0 to 200).
Placed applicants who have any pending document in their application process will only be able to enrol after they deliver/send the said document.
(*)
Applicants who hold a foreign secondary education certificate that is legally equivalent to Portuguese secondary education, as set out in Ministerial Orders No. 224/2006, of 8th March, and No. 699/2006, of 12th July, must provide a supporting document attesting that they have completed secondary education with the said grade (1). Applicants who hold other foreign secondary education certificates legally equivalent to Portuguese secondary education must provide certificate of equivalence to Portuguese secondary education issued by a national competent authority (2).
