Objectives

This course is intended for students to acquire basic knowledge on numerical methods for  the solution of differential problems. Also they will learn how to use the methods, how to control the errors in the methods  and discuss their convergence and stability.

The student should be able to solve problems in the context of the syllabus.

Direct and iterative methods for linear systems of equations. Explicit and implicit Runge-Kutta methods. Multistep methods. Error analysis, stability and convergence. Finite difference methods. Finite element methods. Spectral methods.
