António Teixeira is a Biologist with a PhD in Environmental Sciences from the University of Pavia, Italy. His research focuses on plant–environment interactions and soil–plant–microbiota dynamics. He was the Principal Investigator at the University of Minho for the INTERREG SUDOE project Fleurs Locales (SO E4/P5/F1011), securing ¤236k in competitive EU funding as PI. He has also contributed as a team member to several research projects, including BerryPlastid, Agrifood XXI, and GrapeMicrobiota, all addressing plant–environment interactions and grape berry/wine quality.
He has supervised three BSc, three MSc, and one PhD student, and has co-authored 33 peer-reviewed articles in Scopus-indexed journals as well as three book chapters. He regularly serves as a reviewer for international journals in the field of plant sciences.
António Teixeira was an Early-Stage Researcher (ESR) under a Marie Curie Fellowship at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (UK), and has established a strong international research network. He actively engages in science communication and public outreach to promote scientific literacy, participating in events such as GreenFest, Pint of Science, the European Researchers’ Night, and University Open Days, where he has organized field and laboratory activities.
He is currently an Assistant Researcher at the GreenUPorto research center.
