She graduated in Historical Sciences by the Free University of Porto and has a postgraduate in Cultural Management by the Porto Business School, Porto Business School.
She began her professional activity as a teacher in the History Department at ULP and later at the University Portucalense.
She is the General Director of the Foundation Eng. António de Almeida which represents in General councils, advisory and representatives of various organizations, such as the Portuguese Center of Foundations, the National Commission of UNESCO, the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, the Circle Dr. José de Figueiredo and also the European Foundation Center.
She is Academic Correspondent of the Portuguese Academy of History.

Odete Patrício, residing in Porto, Portugal, holds a degree (1977) in Economics by the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto and a Master´s degree (1990) in Financial Analysis by the same Faculty. She is a Financial Analyst.
She began her professional activity in 1979 at Bial Laboratories (Pharmaceutical Company) as Adviser to the Chairman of the Board of Directors, being the first nominee responsible by the Office of Economic Analysis (GAE).
In 1982, she moved to BPA - Banco Português do Atlântico - the largest Portuguese commercial bank at that time, where she worked as a financial analyst in the Central Office of Economic and Financial Analysis. In her capacity of financial expert, she evaluated large corporate finance projects, namely the feasibility study of the first Portuguese hypermarket Continente and the first bond loan of the Sonae Group.
Later, from 1986 to 1989, she was Head of the Foreign Investment Unit, in BPA, acting as Adviser and Dealer in the Capital Portuguese Markets. On a daily basis, she dealt with some of the largest international investment banks in the world, such as Morgan Stanley, Shearson Lehman, Bear Sterns Asset Management, Credit Suisse First Boston, Nomura Securities, Warburg Assets Management, Fidelity Investments, among others.
From 1989 to 1991, she was the Managing Director of the Portuguese Investment Funds Management Company (CPG - FIPOR), where she was responsible for the design, launch and management of investment funds.
She was the first Managing Director of the Serralves Foundation, instituted in 1989, from October 1991 until January 2017. Her job was to develop the Foundation from scratch.
In her capacity of Executive Manager, she was in charge of the hierarchical representation of the Board of Directors, had the responsibility for the proposal and fulfilment of its strategic and operational objectives and for the overall management of the Foundation, ensuring its regular operation, she was in charge for administration, budgeting, finance, legal and fiscal compliances, fundraising, marketing and commercial strategy, communicational campaigns, patrimonial care and, last but not least, people’s management (100 FTE’s). She responsible for many projects, namely the building, launching and operation of the Contemporary Art Museum of Serralves in 1999, the launching of very successful initiatives, like Serralves Festival, Fundraising Events and many others.
Also led the creation of the 1st Creative Industries Incubator in Portugal and of ADDICT - Agency for the Development of Creative Industries, October 2008.
Between April 2009 and June 2011 she was President of the General Board of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (P.PORTO).
From January 2000 to December 2010, she was a member of the Board of the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Economics of Porto (AAAFEP). She was a Member of the Advisory Board of the Ignition Program for the Creative Industries of Portugal Ventures, between 2014 and 2016. She was Member of the Scientific Council of the Marques da Silva Foundation until December 2017. The Rotary Club of Porto honoured her as Professional of the Year, in October 2010.
She has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Porto, since February 2014; she was elected Councilwoman in the Municipality of Porto, in the list of the Socialist Party, position that exercises from October 25, 2017, onwards; she is a member of the Fiscal Council of the Casa da Música Foundation, from May 2018; she develops consultancy work in the areas of Community projects and Finance; she attended a Study Visit and Seminar entitled "Factors Critical to Success in Fundraising and Development – The American Model" in New York City, in 2010, for European Universities and Cultural Institutions.
