Resumo (PT):
O projecto Argumentar precisa-se! nasceu do pressuposto de que a competência argumentativa é crucial na estrutura curricular do Ensino Superior, quer porque muito do trabalho que é pedido aos estudantes precisa ser convenientemente argumentado, para poder ser cognitivamente apropriado, quer porque o exercício da democracia depende em larga medida dessa capacidade de escolher e justificar as escolhas, inerente ao raciocínio argumentativo.
O ângulo de análise que sustenta o presente projecto preocupa-se, sobretudo, com a questão de saber como é que as unidade curriculares se referem, exigem e/ou promovem o raciocínio argumentativo, que é um aspecto decorrente do desenvolvimento curricular. O projecto recolheu e analisou trabalhos produzidos por estudantes do ponto de vista da mobilização de competências argumentativas, numa amostra constituída por trabalhos desenvolvidos em unidades curriculares de diferentes cursos do 1º ciclo das Faculdades de Engenharia e de Psicologia e Ciências da Educação da Universidade do Porto, no 1º semestre do ano lectivo de 2009/2010. No presente texto dá-se conta dos resultados parcelares relativos às unidades curriculares pertencentes à Faculdade de Engenharia. Foi possível concluir que, apesar da definição de competências CDIO afins à necessidade de argumentação ¿ a resolução de problemas em engenharia constitui um elemento estruturante na organização curricular dos cursos de engenharia - os estudantes demonstram muito, explicam muito, mas não argumentam, porventura porque os professores, nas situações de avaliação, não os convidam a isso.
