Resumo (PT): A conversação continua no nosso tempo tão forte quanto foi no passado e, pela utilidade e frequência com que é praticada, constitui uma das maravilhas do género humano e da vida em sociedade. Por essa razão, já na Antiguidade se procurou teorizar as regras em que a boa conversação devia ocorrer, que são algo diferentes das regras da oratio, que também é um discurso, mas individual e formal. Pois é das regras do bom colóquio entre duas ou mais pessoas, em ambiente de debate ou de simples conversa, que nós vamos falar, tal como foram apresentadas pelos autores antigos e que permanecem atuais. Daremos destaque aos diferentes tipos de conversação, ao que distingue a conversação da oratio e às boas regras por que a conversação se deverá reger, muitas das quais são comuns ao discurso individual e formal.

Abstract (EN): Conversation continues in our times as strong as it has been in the past and, because of its utility and frequency, it is one of the marvels of the human race and of the life in society. For this reason, in Antiquity rhetoricians had already theorized the rules in which good conversation should take place. These rules are somewhat different from the rules of "oratio", which also help building a speech, but in a more individual and formal way. Thus, I will talk about the rules of good conversation between two or more people, both in an atmosphere of debate and in a simple chat, as they were presented by the ancient authors, rules that still remain current. I will highlight the different types of conversation, in which the "oratio" is distinguished from the talk and the good rules by which the conversation should be conducted, many of which are common to individual and formal speech.
