Resumo (PT): Este ensaio tem como finalidade principal demonstrar o forte relacionamento entre os Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS), apresentados na Agenda 2030 da Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU), e o cenário atual de mudanças tecnológicas que o mundo vem atravessando. O estudo das transformações tecnológicas, ao longo da história, evidencia a relevância destas para o desenvolvimento, que é adaptado à situação de cada momento histórico de regiões e países. Nesse contexto, novos conceitos surgem, como é o caso da ecoinovação. Nela, está claramente estabelecida a relação entre sustentabilidade ambiental e tecnologia. O texto conclui e destaca o papel estratégico das Instituições de Ensino Superior (IES) como agentes especiais para o desenvolvimento regional, por meio da promoção de inovações no campo ambiental (ecoinovações) e vinculadas, portanto, à Agenda 2030.

Abstract (EN): This essay has the main aim of showing the strong relationship between Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) – United Nations 2030 Agenda – and the current scenario of technological changes in the world. The study of technical changes, during the history, has been important for the development of regions and countries, adapted to each historical momentum. In this context, new concepts appears such as eco-innovation, in which it presents a clear relation between environmental sustainability and technology. This text concludes with the strategic role of higher education institutions as a relevant agent for regional development, through the promotion of innovations in the environmental field (eco-innovations) and, therefore, linked to the Agenda 2030.
