Details
Summary: Project EcoMarE is a combined effort from researchers based in the Mediterranean (Marseille, France) and Atlantic (Porto, Portugal) coastal environments to shed light on the current environmental concentrations and behaviour of two classes of emerging organic pollutants of global concern (organophosphate esters - OPEs - and siloxanes) based on "green" analytical approaches. Two main tasks are proposed: (1) to adapt and optimize an analytical protocol based on the QuEChERS technology to quantify OPEs in marine biota and carry out first analyses in real samples from both environments (2) to analyze siloxanes in samples from the aforementioned coastal areas. This work plan relies on two coordinated scientific mobilities. The research groups involved (MIO-CEM and LEPABE) have complementary expertise that ensures a successful outcome of the workplan and it is the aim of the Principal Investigators to make EcoMarE the seed of a fruitful synergy to enhance the awareness of the potential hazards to marine ecosystems.
