Objectives

1. To provide the acquisition of competencies specifically directed to the exercise of the professional activity.

2. To promote the professional insertion of the new masters in Veterinary Medicine in the labor market.

3. To foster synergies between the University and professional institutions.

Learning outcomes and competences

It will be expected that students acquire practical skills in areas of interest selected by their own, in view of the beginning of their professional activity.

The externship facilitates the integration of the students in the professional environment, promotes team work and, very often, constitutes their first job opportunity.

Working method

À distância

Pre-requirements (prior knowledge) and co-requirements (common knowledge)

Enrollment in this UC, 6th year or 11th semester, can only be done after approval to all previous curricular units in the syllabus.

The externship will begin after approval of the "Externship Plan" by the Externship Committee (CE) and the MIMV Director. This document is available in the Moodle page of the UC, "Documents for Students" and must be delivered to the Academic Services until one week before the beginning of the activities included therein.

The practical component of the externship has a duration of 16 weeks, and the minimum working time of 40h / week is managed by the host institution, in their and the student best interest.

After completing the practical component, the student presents a "Final Externship Report", the content of which is determined by the supervisor / co-supervisor (s) and by the student, according to the current norms for the respective area.

Following is the presentation and public discussion of the report up to 24 weeks after the start of the work plan, held in the presence of a jury proposed by the supervisor and approved by the MIMV Scientific Commission. A report is then prepared documenting and justifying the evaluation. Please consult in Moodle (Documents for Supervisors".

This UC provides all the contents and explanatory notes in the respective Moodle page (access via Sigarra or federated authentication).
