Objectives

Management practices of livestock species and horses. Knowledge of clinical signs of disease in livestock animals and horses of interest. Nomenclature of clinical exam. Clinical exam. Features, pathophysiology, history, the physical examination. Knowledge and practice protocols for the investigation of major organ systems. Laboratory procedures for blood, bone marrow and urine analysis.

Capacity to make a general clinic examination and a clinical examination of the several systems and organs.

Capacity to decide for complementary means of diagnose.

Development of a clinical thinking concerning the large animals’ species.

Physiologic and Pathology Generalities Examination of the body condition. Examination of the cardiovascular system. Examination of the respiratory tract. Examination of the digestive tract. Digestive syndromes in ruminants and horses. Exploration of the digestive associated glands. Examination of the genito-urinary apparatus. Examination of the mammary gland in ruminants. Analysis of secretion of the mammary gland. Hematology basic knowledge. Examination of the nervous system. Examination of the locomotor system. Frequently lameness syndromes in horses. Dermatology examination.

Eligibility for exams

Students must be present in 75% of the practical classes presented.

Calculation formula of final grade

Theoretical exam that should be written - 12 out f 20 (50% of the final)

Practical or Theoretical and practical exam - 8 out of 20 (50% of the final).

The theoretical and practical exam might be oral or written.
The students must have approval in both parts (theoretical and practical). Both parts are eliminatory.

Observations
