Objectives
To provide students with an understanding of systematic pathology including aetiology and pathogenesis of the diseases of domestic and farm animals, as well as some exotic animals, as they relate to veterinary practice. A basic understanding of histopathology and gross pathology of various organs and tissues. To demonstrate how identification of pathological changes relate to the diagnosis and prognosis of disease.
Program
The course will consist on the study of the alimentary system, pancreas and liver, male and female genital system, musculoskeletal system, skin and lymphoid system. Practical lectures consists on necropsy and histological examination of samples collected on the necropsy room.

Theoretical lectures.
Practical lectures (necropsies with respective writen repports and histological examinations of the most relevant cases observe at the necropsy room).

1) Written theoretical exam (50%)
2) Oral practical exam(40%)
2.1) Description examination (20%)
2.2) Necropsy examination (20%)
Necropsy reports (10%).
Examinations or Special Assignments
Writing, at least, one case report from a case of the necropsy room
Observations
The theoretical examination can only be performed after aproving both pratical examinations. The description examinion will occur in the intermediate examination period while the necropsy examination will be in the last two weeks of classes. Both examinations will occur during the pratical classes.
