Summary: |
Decarbonizing cities through the mitigation of fossil fuels along with the endogenization of renewable
energy sources, arises as a key factor in fighting climate changes. The future energy models
traditionally rely on renewable sources, being therefore critical to safeguard intermediate energy
storage. However, for the storage system to be efficient, the energy must be stocked in the buildings
infrastructure and integrated in smart microgrids.
Therefore, and because we believe batteries have a main role in this challenge, the project ?
Baterias2030? tackles urban challenges beyond decarbonization and sustainable energetic
societies, characterizing the cities of the future (Smart Cities). To do it, the breakdown structure
of ?Baterias 2030? integrates six Work Packages (PPS-Product, Process or Service), from which
four concern to scientific and technological developments (PPS1 to PPS4), one concerns to the
demonstration of the developed PPSs in urban scenario (PPS5) and the remain concerns to project
management. The main goal is to stablish a new energy community, built on a low carbon microgrid
as an option to the fossil fuels, and decrease therefore the CO2 concentration in the cities.
?Baterias2030? will be undertaken by 14 Companies, leaded by DST Solar and capable to capitalize
the outputs of the above-mentioned Work Packages, gathered with 9 Research and Technology Organizations (RTOs), detaining high value know-how in the energy domain and capable to achieve
the project objectives. Forecasting an investment around 9.9M¤, the project ?Baterias 2030? aims to
contribute to the development of breakthrough technologies to be integrated along the value chain.
Ultimately, ?Baterias 2030? leverages innovation around the sustainable production, storage and
management of ENERGY. |
