João Silva Nunes is an Assistant Lecturer at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar (ICBAS) of the University of Porto and a Guest Lecturer in the Master’s in Academic and Clinical Education at the University of Porto. He is a member of the executive board of the Medical Education Office and holds the pedagogical coordination of the Biomedical Simulation Center at ICBAS. Clinically, he is undergoing specialist training in Intensive Care Medicine at the Intensive Care Unit of Hospital de Santo António, Local Health Unit of Santo António.
He holds a Master’s degree in Medicine from ICBAS – University of Porto and a Master’s in Health Services Management and Economics from the Faculty of Economics of the same university (FEP). He is currently a PhD candidate in Medical Sciences at ICBAS, conducting research focused on the competencies and training needs of educators in the health professions.
His main research interests include faculty development, pedagogical training of healthcare professionals, and innovation in medical education. In parallel, he collaborates on clinical research projects in the areas of infection, antibiotic stewardship strategies, infection control in intensive care, and palliative care.
