Ana Colette Pereira de Castro Osório Maurício graduated in 1995 in Veterinary Medicine from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FMV), at the Technical University of Lisbon (UTL). She obtained her PhD in Veterinary Sciences from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FMV), at the Technical University of Lisbon (UTL) in 1999, having developed her research work at the Instituto Gulbenkian Ciência (IGC) in Oeiras, at the Faculty of Medicine of Freiburg, in Germany and at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology (FCT) of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (UNL). She completed her Aggregation, Branch of Knowledge in Veterinary Sciences, at the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS), University of Porto (UP) in 2011. She is currently a Full Professor at the Department of Veterinary Clinics, Member of the Scientific Council and the Council of Representatives of ICBAS-UP. She is Director of the Department of Veterinary Clinics, being the coordinator of the Curricular Units of the Integrated Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine (MIMV) of ICBAS-UP in Internal Medicine of Livestock and Equine Species I and Medical Semiology of Livestock and Equine Species. She is Director of the Doctoral Program in Veterinary Sciences at ICBAS-UP and of the ICBAS Pole at the Vairão Agricultural Campus – Vairão Equine Clinical Center (CCEV). She has been a member of the MIMV Scientific Committee since 2023. She currently works in Experimental Surgery and Regenerative Medicine, being responsible for a multidisciplinary research group where Cellular Therapies and Biomaterials are developed, where pre-clinical trials are carried out on animals through Experimental Surgery and where the transition of knowledge is still made for the development of clinical trials in Medicine and Veterinary Medicine.
She is coordinator of the Regenerative Medicine and Experimental Surgery subunit of the Animal Science Studies Center (CECA) of the Institute of Sciences, Technologies and Agroenvironment of the University of Porto (ICETA) and Member of the Associated Laboratory for Animal and Veterinary Science (Al4AnimalS, CECA-ICETA, CIISA, CECAV) where she coordinates the Thematic Line Comparative and Translational Medicine and Biotechnology. Coordinator of the Bioengineering and Biotechnology Panel of the 2021 and 2022 Doctoral Scholarships Competition, of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), Expert of the External Evaluation Committee of the Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES) in the area of Veterinary Sciences, of the European Commission and External Evaluator of the National Innovation Agency (ANI). She is responsible for the supervision and co-supervision of numerous Doctoral thesis (20 Doctoral theses completed), Master's/Integrated Master's thesis and Undergraduate thesis in the areas of Veterinary, Biomedical, Bioengineering and Medical Sciences. Co-author of numerous scientific articles published in indexed international journals and several chapters of international and national books, editor of 6 international scientific books (h-index 31, total of 2847 citations) having also participated as principal researcher or team member in several national and international projects funded in competitive competitions. Inventor of 6 patents, 5 of which are international and 1 is in the provisional patent application (PPP) phase at the University of Porto.
