Making an Impact! Skills for Career Paths in and beyond Academia

The ‘Making an Impact! Skills for Career Paths in and beyond Academia’ training programme is part of the EUGLOH - European University Alliance for Global Health, promoting the development of transversal skills essential for the employability and professional transition of doctoral students and young researchers, both inside and outside academia.

This programme responds directly to the mission of the University of Porto, which aims to create, share and apply knowledge at the service of society, and is aligned with its core values, namely innovation, internationalisation and social impact.

  • Innovation and skills development: U.Porto is committed to preparing its students for a global and constantly evolving labour market. Through this training programme, participants will develop skills in science communication, knowledge transfer, employability and entrepreneurship, strengthening their ability to apply academic knowledge in different professional contexts.
  • Internationalisation and collaboration: As a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), this initiative fosters collaboration between European universities, promoting mobility and the exchange of best practices between higher education institutions. Through the partnership with EUGLOH, U.Porto strengthens its international network and reinforces its role as a leading institution in the advanced training of researchers.
  • Social impact and commitment to society: The programme responds to the growing demands of the job market, helping researchers position themselves for careers in the public and private sectors and in entrepreneurial initiatives. The integration of real-world challenges, such as communicating with non-specialised audiences and applying research to society, ensures that graduates not only develop academic skills, but also actively contribute to innovation and social development.
  • By integrating this training offer at U.Porto, we reinforce our commitment to excellence in doctoral training and to enhancing the professional career of our researchers, consolidating the institutional commitment to knowledge transfer and scientific employability.
  • This training will be an integral part of the EUGLOH 2.0 - Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP).
