The European and Portuguese Cancer Control Strategy 2021-2030 aims to significantly reduce the impact of cancer. Although the growing progress in understanding the mechanisms of oncogenesis has enabled the implementation of precision medicine programmes with a positive impact on cancer patient survival, much work remains to be done in order to achieve this goal.

Additionally, by including the participation of faculty from the proposing institutions, it will help promote ICBAS and the University of Porto (UP), fostering greater collaboration between both institutions.
