Environmental Contamination and Toxicology

JOINT COURSE WITH THE FACULTY OF SCIENCES OF UPORTO

Access qualifications:
May apply for the cycle of studies, graduates or holders of a legally equivalent degree, professionals with duly proven experience, and 1st cycle students in the final phase of completion in the areas of Life, Natural, and Environmental Sciences or related areas. Applications for the ERASMUS MUNDUS pathway will follow the specific guidelines to be established by the International Consortium.

Schedule: Daytime

Location: the cycle of studies will be taught at the University of Porto (ICBAS-UP and FCUP)

BEGINNING OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR: 18 September 2023.


Objectives

MTCA is mainly focused on understanding the interactions between pollution/other environmental stressors and living organisms/ecosystems, risk assessment and management (e.g., pollution, climate change) for environmental, animal, and human health (One Health), among other current/emerging paradigms. It will provide high-quality teaching and research training in toxicology, ecotoxicology, chemistry, and other areas. Graduates will be able to develop research and new technologies, participate in environmental policies and management, communicate and operate in international and multidisciplinary teams, contributing to address, adapt and overcome some of the major challenges that local/national/European/international institutions face. They are expected to contribute actively to the objectives of new national and European policies, to social and economic development, to global environmental sustainability, and to the protection of human health.

For degrees obtained in foreign countries, international students must submit, in the application process, a certificate/declaration issued by the institution that awarded the degree with the final classification and the used grading scale. Tuition fees may be paid in full at the time of enrolment or in 10 monthly instalments, the first being due at the time of enrolment/registration and the remaining in the months following the beginning of the academic year until the last day of each month.
