Integrated Masters

Description

For the purposes of this call international students are those who do not have Portuguese nationality.

There are not covered by this regulation, so they cannot apply through this contest:

  1. Nationals of a European Union member State;
  2. Portuguese or nationals of a European Union member State relatives, regardless of their nationality;
  3. Those who, not being nationals of a European Union member State and not being covered by the preceding paragraph, reside legally in Portugal for more than two years for a continuous period on the 1st January of the year they intend to enter higher education, as well as the children which reside with them legally;
  4. Those who, on the 1st January of the year they intend to enter higher education are beneficiaries of equal rights and duties status assigned under international treaty granted between the Portuguese State and the State of which they are nationals;
  5. Those who requires admission into higher education through special rules of access and admission regulated by Decree Law No 393-A/99 of 2nd October, amended by Decree Law No 272/2009 of 1st

Similarly, are not covered the international students who attend a Portuguese higher education institution within an international mobility program to carry out part of the cycle of studies from a foreign higher education institution with whom the Portuguese institution has established exchange agreement with this purpose.

Note:

  • When a candidate has two or more nationalities and one of them is Portuguese only this one matters for the current call and it cannot apply through this regulation.

 

  • In case the student with two or more nationalities, in which it is not included the Portuguese nationality, has nationality of another European Union member State and extra community State, it can choose one of them.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT STATUS

International students maintain the corresponding status until the end of the cycle of studies for which they apply for or carried forward with the exception of those who, meanwhile, obtain the nationality of a European Union member State, in which case the termination of the international student status applicability take effect from the subsequent academic year after de nationality acquisition.

Applicants

International students who can apply for registration and enrolment in the first cycle degree of Aquatic Sciences and in the master degree of Veterinary Medicine are:

  1. Holders of a qualification giving access to higher education, understood as any diploma or certificate issued by a competent authority that certify the approval in a secondary level education program of that country and grant them the right to apply and enter the higher education of the country that grant it; OR
  2. Holders of a Portuguese diploma of secondary education or Holders of a Portuguese secondary education diploma or a legally equivalent qualification; OR
  3. Students with student status in humanitarian emergency situation, foreseen in Article 8th-A of Decree Law No 36/2014 of 10th March, amended by Decree Law No 62/2018 of 6th August, and in Article 4th of Regulation of the International Student Status of University of Porto.   

 

Specific Qualification Conditions:  

Integrated Master in Veterinary Medicine

1.
To have held and approved one of the following assessment procedures valid from 2018:

  1. National admission exams defined to the Integrated Master in Veterinary Medicine of ICBAS-UPorto (“02 Biology and Geology” and “07 Physics and Chemistry”), within the general regime of admission and had obtain in each admission exam the minimum classification of 125 (scale 0-200); OR
  2. Conclusion exams of a foreign secondary education considered equivalents to the Integrated Master in Veterinary Medicine of ICBAS-UPorto national admission exams, as defined in the 20th-A Article of Decree Law No 296-A/98 of 25th September, updated by Decree Law No 90/2008 of 30th May, and had obtain in each admission exam the minimum classification of 125 (scale 0-200); OR
  3. National High School Exam (ENEM) fulfilled in Brazil, with validity from 2018, in the stipulated subjects to admission in the Integrated Master in Veterinary Medicine of ICBAS-UPorto (Natural Sciences and its Technologies) and had obtain a minimum classification of 125 (scale 0-200) after the ENEM classifications conversion to a scale 0-200, accordingly to the formula: ENEM exam classification*200/1000 OR
  4. Other competitions that are identical to those mentioned in the previous paragraph, such as Bachiller in Ecuador, ICFES in Colombia, Exani II in Ceneval, Mexico, among others; OR
  5. Special exam for students in emergency situation by humanitarian reasons, foreseen in Article 8th-A of Decree Law No 36/2014 of 10th March, amended by Decree Law No 62/2018 of 6th August, and in Article 4th of Regulation of the International Student Status of University of Porto.

2. Knowledge of Portuguese language assessed by:

  1. Submission of supporting document OR,
  2. On-site or videoconference interview.

Applicants that apply with ENEM exams:

ENEM classifications will be converted to a scale 0-200 (Portuguese scale of classifications) accordingly the calculation: Final Grade = ENEM Grade * 200/1000

After the ENEM classification conversion, it will only be admitted applicants with classification in the demanded knowledge field equal or higher than 125 points.

Applicants that apply with other exams:

To have a classification in the admission exams (or in equivalent national or conclusion exam) equal or higher than 125 points (in the scale 0-200).

 

First Cycle Degree in Aquatic Sciences:

1.

Prerequisites

Integrated Master in Veterinary Medicine:

            This document should be delivered only in the enrolment act.

  prerequisite of group A (interpersonal communication).

 

To the First Cycle Degree in Aquatic Sciences admission it is not required any prerequisite.

Ranking Criteria

Integrated Master in Veterinary Medicine:

Criteria of candidate’s seriation:

Higher classification obtained in the exam or exams average, as applicable, mentioned in the specific qualification conditions.

 

First Cycle Degree in Aquatic Sciences:

Criteria of candidate’s seriation:

Higher classification obtained in one of the admission exams demanded by ICBAS to the admission in the first cycle degree in Aquatic Sciences or in the equivalent exams taken in the origin country.

Ranking Method

Integrated Master in Veterinary Medicine:

Applicants will be ordered by descending order of the best classification obtained in the admission exams.

Criteria of candidate’s tiebreaker:

  • Higher classification in the most recent year of the admission exams
  • Lower age considering the candidate’s age in Year/Month/Day (YMD currently, i.e., last day of the application deadline).

First Cycle Degree in Aquatic Sciences:

Applicants will be ordered by descending order of the best classification obtained in the admission exams.

Criteria of candidate’s tiebreaker:

  • Higher classification in the most recent year of the admission exams
  • Lower age considering the candidate’s age in Year/Month/Day (YMD currently, i.e., last day of the application deadline).

Documents Required

  1. Supporting document(s)* of the specific exams [national exams, homologous exams, ENEM, etc.], (mandatory);
  2. Diploma or certificate* issued by a competent authority that certify the approval in a secondary level education programme (mandatory**);
  3. Declaration * issued by the official services of education of the origin country certifying that the secondary qualification from which they are holders, obtained in that country, is sufficient to enter in the country’s official higher education in similar courses of the one they pretend to apply. Alternatively, equivalence certificate to the Portuguese secondary education issued by a competent national entity. (Exception to the qualifications defined in the clarification EVR_UO2016/01) (mandatory**);
  4. Official document describing the grading scale applicable to the specific test (in the case of a scale other than 0 to 200);*
  5. Identification document data (please, print, complete and scan, to upload) (mandatory);
  6. Declaration on oath that he’s covered by the International Student status (please, print, complete and scan, to upload) (mandatory).

Note: * These documents should be certified by consular offices or Portuguese embassies headquartered in the country from which the qualification is concerned or, to the countries that joined Hague Convention, with the country’s Hague Apostille from which the qualification is concerned. Documents whose original language is not Portuguese, Spanish, French or English, should be translated to Portuguese (official translation).
** In the case of a Portuguese national exam, it is only mandatory to deliver the ENES form.

These documents should be delivered in person during enrolment/ registration, taking place at ICBAS before the beginning of the academic year in a period defined in due time.     

Fees

Application shall be subject to a non-refundable payment of 100 euros in accordance with point 4.3 of the service charges existing in University of Porto.

 

Procedure to generate payment references:

  3. By clicking in “voltar à conta corrente” you’ll find again the generated reference.

Procedures

To submit your application, please follow the steps below:

  1. Choose the cycle of studies/ course and the access regime intended (International Student).
  2. Select “Apresentar a candidatura”.
  3. Fill in the application form and add the requested documents. (note: the fields marked in red are mandatory).
  4. Submit your application. If when you try to submit an error is detected (e.g. mandatory fields unfilled) the system send out a warning message.

If the information is successfully submitted, you should verify all entered data and confirm or edit the data.

  1. After validation of the application submission you will receive information about the payment method of the corresponding fee (note: the payment references can take some time to generate).
  2. Any problem you have in the application submission must be reported to pregraduacao@icbas.up.pt during the application submission deadline.

 

PRELIMINARY REFUSAL

It will be preliminary refused the applications:

  1. Whose application fee is not liquidated;
  2. That don’t fulfil the specific qualifications conditions;
  3. That are not submitted with the mandatory documents.
