Objectives
- Apply the Animal Pathology knowledge in the forensic area and transfer it appropriately to the real/professional context;
- Demonstrate multidisciplinary methodological, technological and instrumental skills that allow you to apply the theoretical knowledge obtained in solving problems in the medical, veterinary and legal sectors;
- Be able to plan and develop laboratory and technical experimental and diagnostic work of medical, veterinary, forensic or criminal interest;
- Recognize the various factors that can affect the efficiency and speed of laboratory procedures carried out, in order to improve the methodologies used and minimize potential associated risks.
Learning outcomes and competences
Knowledge and application of the methodologies used in the area of Animal Pathology and understanding of their importance in assessing the health and well-being of the animal itself, as well as any impact on public health.
It is intended that the forensic investigator, like any other health professional, is aware of new advances in the area and prepared to carry out their duties with a critical perspective and on a scientific basis.
Working method
Presencial
Pre-requirements (prior knowledge) and co-requirements (common knowledge)
Normal Anatomy (structure), Physiology (function) and Histology (architectural and tissue organization), as well as basic laboratory techniques knowledge.
Program
The program content varies on the location of the internship and the selected theme, but is always focused on deepening knowledge in the area in which it takes place;
Observation, analysis, case discussion and collaboration in forensic necropsy reports on various animal species;
Laboratory training.
