1. Theoretical sessions: exposition and discussion of the main themes of the Curricular Unit, emphasizing the clinical relevance of the concepts and their present or future application. The interaction between students and teachers, through active discussion, is stimulated during these sessions.
2. Practical sessions: consolidation of the main concepts of the theoretical sessions and observation of key images, including histopathological slides representative of each theme.

Exceptional situations according to the law will be, obviously, considered.1. “Theoretical evaluation” component (TEC): Multiple choice questions about the subjects of the theoretical sessions.
Two frequency exams (the first during the mid-evaluation period of the 1st semester and the second during the final evaluation period of the 1st semester), each classified from 0 to 20; the final classification derives from the arithmetical mean of both tests and students are approved in the TEC if their classification equals to or exceeds 9.50 / 20.
or, alternatively,
Final exam, to be performed during the final evaluation period of the 1st semester (students which performed the first frequency test may also have acess to this test, in which case the result of the frequency test is considered null), classified from 0 to 20. Students are approved in the TEC if their classification equals to or exceeds 9.50 / 20.
2. “Practical evaluation” component (PEC): continuous evaluation of the pratical sessions based on 4 evaluation tests, scheduled for the beginning of a pratical class, focusing on the concepts acquired on the pratical sessions. This classification is expressed from 0 to 20, and students are approved in the PEC if their classification equals to or exceeds 9.50 / 20.
Determination of the final classification
Approval in the Curricular Unit of Pathology I implies a classification equal to or exceeding 9.50 / 20 in both components of the evaluation (TEC and PEC).
A negative result in any of the components will lead to disapproval.
The final classification of the curricular unit (FCCU) is calculated according to the formula:
FCCU = 0.7 x TEC + 0.3 x PEC
According to the Standards for Evaluation and Pedagogical Orientation of the University of Porto.
Should be performed according to the schedule approved by the Pedagogical CouncilImprovement of the classification in the TEC will be performed according to the schedule approved by the Pedagogical Council.
Improvement of the classification in the PEC is not foreseen according to regulations of University of Porto.
Assessment Type: distributed assessment with final exam
Assessment Components: theoretical assessment and practical assessment (both not in person)
Theoretical evaluation:
The assessment that focuses on the knowledge acquired in the theoretical sessions (CAT), will consist of a final exam (multiple choice questions), to be carried out during the exams of the 2nd semester. This final test is rated from 0 to 20 points, with students who obtain a rating equal to or greater than 9.50 points being approved in the theoretical evaluation component.
Practical assessment:
Calculation formula of the final classification:
Approval in the Curricular Unit of Pathology I implies obtaining a classification equal to or greater than 9.50 values in both components of the assessment (CAT and CAP). A negative rating for one of the components leads to failure. The final classification of the course unit (CFUC) is calculated using the following formula:
CFUC = 0.7 x CAT + 0.3 x CAP
N.B .: The rounding of the final classifications is carried out for the upper unit from 5 tenths and for the lower unit up to 49 hundredths of value
