Objectives

To initiate the study of the animal morphology and the student’s contact with animals of several species. To know the morphological characteristics and aptitudes of the principal Portuguese and exotic breeds of animals belonging to bovine, zebu, equine, asinine, mules, sheep, goat, pig, rabbits, poultry, canine and feline species. To know some animal management practices.

The lectures are supported by the use of overheads, slides, videos, and multimedia. The material used in lectures is provided in full to students
The practical teaching consists in study visits and practical classes at the Campus Agrário de Vairão.

To approve this course it is required to attend a total of 75% of the practical classes

Calculation formula of final grade

In the case of continuous assessment, the final grade is calculated by assigning 50% tos test n.1 and 50% to test n.2 (only the final grade of the course is rounded to the units)
Students with a final mark of ten or more are considered approved

Examinations or Special Assignments

Two tests (performing the second test is conditional on obtaining a minimum score of 8 points in the first trial; the minimum grade in the second test is 7 points)

Classification improvement

Students who opt for continuous assessment can try to improve their classification performing the final exam; However, from the moment the students deliver the exam to be corrected, the grade used to calculate the final rating will always be the final exam, whether it is above or below the weighted average of the two tests.
