Objetivos e Atividades
This proposal grounds on three main objectives: 1) to define the
physiological relevance of AQP9 in human SCs by assessing its intrinsic expression, regulation and function in SCs and throughout
the spermatogenic event; 2) to determine the role of CFTR on the transport activity of AQP9, by focalizing on the mechanism of the
possible reciprocal regulation between AQP9 and CFTR; 3) to investigate the relevance of AQP9 in the SCs and Sertoli/BTB glycerol
permeability as well as the on glycerolinduced
spermatogenic disruption as previous studies have shown that administration of low
levels of glycerol results in a marked reduction of spermatogenesis, accompanied by Sertoli/BTB disruption. |
