Current position: Associate Professor at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar, University of Porto (ICBAS-UP). Integrated researcher at the Center for Pharmacological Research and Drug Innovation (MedInUP), in the area of cardiovascular research.

Academic background: Degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro. Exams for Pedagogical Aptitude and Scientific Capacity in veterinary cardiology, University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro. PhD in Veterinary Sciences, University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro.

Main research interests/skills: Research activity based on both fundamental and clinical aspects, focusing primarily on cardiovascular sciences and veterinary cardiology, addressing topics related to heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, cardiac imaging, and heartworm disease. Clinical activity at the UPVET Veterinary Hospital of the University of Porto in the field of veterinary cardiology.

Key activities: Teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the areas of Physiology, Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Companion Animal Clinic (veterinary cardiology), and Animal Experimentation. Participation in more than 15 research projects. Supervisor of over 100 clinical and scientific research projects (MSc, PhD). Other relevant information: Member of the Mobility Committee of the Integrated Master’s Program in Veterinary Medicine at ICBAS-UP. Participation in more than 270 academic examination panels. President of the Evaluation Committee for the annual SPCAV Award, granted to the best integrated master's thesis in veterinary medicine, promoted by the Portuguese Society of Veterinary Cardiology.
