Objectives
This curricular unit aims to provide students with a broad contact with the main approaches and respective concepts about childhood as a socio-historical construction of the generational type and of children as social and citizen actors, as well as themes and associated problems, as well as action and research that articulates the relationship between childhood / children and issues of contemporary education.

- to know and understand the conceptual framework proposed by the Social Studies of Childhood
- to know and understand the conceptual and practical framework (legal, institutional, etc.) that presides over the way of thinking and acting in education in its articulations at the formal, non-formal and informal level in relation to childhood as a social structure and children as social actors and citizens
- to identify problems and to elaborate problems of research and intervention in education, in its own articulation, in relation to the questions posed by the social category of childhood and children;
- collect, select and interpret relevant national and international information on the relationship between childhood / children and education, according to the themes under study and the ways of achieving the evaluation
- to deepen knowledge about programs, projects and institutions directly and indirectly aimed at children in the field of education;
- carry out an empirical research that allows the production of knowledge that can guide the choice of the research and internship contexts
- produce a written document - a research project or training to be carried out the following year, theoretically and methodologically based and argued.

Teaching methods and learning activities
Theoretical-practical model, integrating:
- moments of structured presentation of contents;
-debate around the ideas and concepts presented;
- discussion and debate on the ongoing research concerning the detection and problematization of future research and training contexts;
Autonomous work includes theoretical research, fieldwork and preparation of the dissemination of the knowledge produced.

Eligibility for exams
The possibility of using the distributed evaluation modality assumes the presence in at least 75% of the hours of contact.
The cases provided for by law, in particular the student workers, are exempted from the verification of the attendance conditions mentioned above, and these should contact the teacher 20 days after the beginning of the semester.
Calculation formula of final grade
production of final written work (pre-project internship or research) that corresponds to 50% of the final classification;
fieldwork and theoretical research for writing a research project or intervention / internship and corresponding to 30% of the final grade
attendance at orientation seminars corresponds to 20% of the final classification
The fraud committed in the performance of a test - in any of its modalities - implies the annulment of the same and the communication to the competent statutory body for possible disciplinary proceedings.

Students who are exempt from UC contact hours by law will be required to take a special face-to-face test to assess UC's domain of competencies and program content.

Classification improvement
The students can improve the final classification of this course only once, at the time of appeal and according to the modality to be agreed with the teacher.
The final grade in the course unit is the highest, between the one that had been obtained initially and that resulting from the improvement of the classification made.
Observations
this FUC is still in its preparatory phase. A final version, approved by the uc faculty, will be presented to the students. After the discussion of the evaluation proposal with the students this will be finalized
