In this course the students should be able to evaluate and implement agroup intervention programme in situations of prevention or adjustment to disease.
Provide students with:
- Theoretical-practical knowledge on group mobilization within physical and mental health issues. According to the issues presented on classes students should deepen their knowledge related with the different theoretical models applied in group intervention.
- Competences of leadership, being able to establish goals and to outline strategies of intervention adequate to the group stages of development.
1. Characterization and specificities of different types of groups in health contexts (therapeutic groups, support groups, educational groups). 2. Approach to group processes (feedback; developmental stages of the group, cohesion). 3. The Humanists models applied to groups (Schutz, Pearls, Rogers). 4. The cognitive-behavioural models applied to groups (Ellis, Lazarus). 5. The Yalom model. 6. Introduction to psychodrama. 7. Exemplification of techniques of groups dynamic adjusted to health contexts. 8. Exemplification of interventions in group carried out with patients and their family.
Theoretical-practical classes.
On the theoretical level are used oral exposure through PowerPoint and discussion of the papers previously suggested. On a practical level, skills to lead and engage in groups are promoted through training.
This type of classes takes place in a specific room which is suitable for the training of group dynamics. At the beginning, teachers exemplify the application of group dynamics appropriate to the contexts of health.
Afterwards, each group 2-3 students must present an intervention program which will be presented in practical classes through the leadership and conducting exercises group dynamics.

The unit assessment includes two types of evaluation: a more practical one, which consists of group mobilization within the classroom, and another more theroretical, which consist ofwritten exam. This work should be elaborated based on a certain context/problematic within health area previously determined by the teacher. In this work students should develop a short project of intervention in group to dynamize in the classroom throiugh the application of group dynamics (ponderation of 8 values in the final classification). The theroretical approach will be assess by final exame (ponderation 12 values).
