Objectives

This curricular unit aims to learn to conduct a clinical assessment of children or adolescents, using formal and informal methods, quantitative and qualitative. Students should be able to:
- Know the theoretical models featuring a set of assessment tools and techniques used in the clinical evaluation of children and adolescents
- Select the assessment procedures to use in a specific situation or context of clinical evaluation of children and adolescents
- Undertake the administration, quotation and interpretation of the results of formal instruments (tests, scales, questionnaires) used in the clinical assessment of children and adolescents
- Use non-formal methods of clinical assessment, mastering the technique of application and attribution of meaning to the results obtained
- Prepare a report of clinical assessment  

-  Communicate  the results of the clinical assessment

-  Be aware of the ethics and legal issues of a clinical assessment.

- mastery of strategies and tecnical procedures, both formal and informal of clinical assessment of children and adolescents

- mastery of skills tooverall  integrate the results  of a clinical assessment

- mastery of the comunication process of the clinical assessment results, both to parents and to professionals

4. Communication: Instruments and measures.
5. Attachment: methods and tools for assessment of attachment in children and adolescents
6. Personal and social assessment: instruments for children and adolescents

            7.1.Assessment of maltreatment
            7.2.Assessment of autism-spectrum disorders
            7.3.Assessment of emotional symptoms
            7.4.Assessment of behavior disturbances. Hyperactivity and attention deficit.
            7.5. Evaluation of the quality of interactions and relationships

Teaching methods and learning activities

The teaching methods used are as follows:
1. Lecture
2. Role-play for training of specific clinical assessment skills
3.
Tutorial in groups of students - the professor guides the students in the search of clinical assessment tools

4. Supervision of a process of clinical assessment of a child or adolescent followed by students, under the direct guidance of a psychologist in different contexts.
5. Peer learning - students participate in the presentation of clinical cases followed by peers, under the supervision of the professor.
